About

I am a writer and translator based in Aberfeldy, Scotland. My latest poetry book Dwell Time (Tapsalteerie 2025) is longlisted for the Highland Book Prize. Dares Paradise (Princeton 2026), my next poetry book, is forthcoming in September 2026. My first poetry book Dastram/Delirium (Broken Sleep 2023) was Scottish Poetry Book of the Year and a Poetry Book Society Translation Choice. My poems, translations, and essays have appeared in various literary journals, such as Poetry London, New Statesman, Times Literary Supplement, Poetry Northwest (US), and elsewhere. My poetry has been The Scotsman Poem of the Week, shortlisted for several prizes, and translated into Irish and Italian. I also publish photography and record the odd song.

I completed my masters in creative writing from the University of St Andrews and my doctorate at the University of Glasgow. Currently I work as Creative Development Officer at Corbenic Camphill Community. The role commissions new work, stages events, leverages media development and provides online support for Corbenic’s Poetry Path, a meandering circuit of uplands, woodlands, and riverside, with sculpture, installation, and some of the nation’s best poetry. Corbenic itself is a Perthshire care community for adults with learning disabilities that incorporates creativity and environmental stewardship into its ethos.

I have tended bar all over Scotland, taught middle school in Tacoma, Washington, learned how to pour a mean saison at Brasserie Saint Somewhere in Tarpon Springs, Florida, and mostly learned how to write SQL as a data analyst in Denver, Colorado. I am a girl dad and entirely tired, ach ag ionnsachadh na Gàidhlig cuideachd. Hope to start learning Faroese soon.
